Sparling
Rock's History:
Sparling Rock Holsteiners was started in
Orange, VA back in 2004 with the goal of of producing top equine athletes
for the Olympic disciplines. Tim Kammerer, its founder, began with a
couple of TB mares approved for different warmblood books and bred them to
Holsteiner Stallions with this goal in mind.
While searching for another broodmare, Vienna, an American
Holsteiner was discovered at West With the Wind Farm in Abingdon, VA. She
had enormous athleticism and talent and was quickly grabbed and brought
back home to grow up. It soon
became apparent that Vienna had far more athletic ability then Sparling
Rock's original production. Her
easy championship wins and highest national jumping scores at her mare
test quickly raised the bar. Tim
set out to learn about Holsteiners and how they are bred and why they have
more of the top 25 sport producing mare families (stamms), then any other
studbook. This venture has
led to multiple trips to Germany spending time with
breeders like Uwe Bahlmann, Harm Thormahlen, Otto Lienau and many
others ... under the guidance of Reece Miller of Bayhawk Stables, the
breeder of Vienna's dam Playmate. These
experiences coupled with the nearly 20 years of overall equestrian
experience has developed Sparling Rock into the Exclusive Holsteiner Sport
Horse venture that it is today.
Sparling Rock Holsteiners - Waters Edge
Farm:
Early
in 2011 Sparling Rock Holsteiners (SR) relocated to Waters Edge Farm in
Sykesville, MD. This facility
enables SR to not only to raise its young stock in a healthy environment,
but it also matches the Holsteiner's innate athletic ability with the
excellent training necessary to perform at the top.
SR now breeds exclusively German Stamm Holsteiners for the highest
levels of sport, with an emphasis on Show Jumping.
It is the goal of SR to utilize first hand knowledge of the
individual Holsteiners to selectively breed, matching the unique qualities
of both sire and dam to create the very best combination of temperament,
conformation, movement and athleticism.
We breed, sell, and search for Holsteiners here and in Germany for
our clients using our intimate knowledge of today's modern Holsteiner and
the many contacts made over the years.
