Natalie and High Tech competing Advanced at Fair Hill.High Tech (Leggs) is a 1985 17.2 hand bay TB gelding. He was a 'racetrack reject' found as a 3 year old in Illinois by Virginia Benz Shemonic. Leggs was competed through the Preliminary level by Jill O'Donoghue and was 4th in the 1992 Radnor CCI*. Ralph Hill then took over as his rider, and Leggs completed the Bromont CCI** and started at the Advanced level. After he'd had a long vacation, Virginia offered Natalie a co-ownership of Leggs, and Natalie took over as rider of this talented horse in 1998. They have been a very successful pair with a great record, including placing 1st at Blue Ridge OP (1998), 1st at Morven Park OP (1998), 3rd at Middleburg OP (1998), 4th at Virginia Horse Trials OP (1998),   4th at Waradaca OI (1999), 3rd at Fair HIll at Menfelt OI (1999), 4th at Groton House II (1999), 5th at Morven Park IO (2000), and a successful start in April 2000 at the Advanced level.  In October 2000, Leggs and Natalie successfully completed the Radnor CCI**. In April 2001, Leggs and Natalie won their division at the Morven Park CIC**. Natalie and Leggs continued at the Advanced level by placing 8th at Fair Hill International Horse Trials in April 2001.

Leggs is a character around the barn. He begs for treats from everyone (and usually gets them!). He will also perform his 'lip tricks' for an audience. This horse definitely does not act his age and will demonstrate it by occasionally bucking (with or without a rider!) and being a wild man on his trail rides!

Unfortunately, Leggs injured a tendon at the CDCTA**, and had to spend the Fall '01 season recuperating. He came back out in 2002 and is currently teaching the next generation of eventers the ropes at the Novice and Training levels.

Sirius is a 1991 16.1 hand Irish Sport Horse mare by I'm a Star and out of a King
of Diamonds mare. "Siri" is a full sister to Phyllis Dawson's 4 star horse "Starbright"
and was a purchase from Phyllis by Natalie and Liz. Sirius has enjoyed a very
successful eventing career - she completed both the Bromont CCI** and Radnor
CCI**. Natalie and Sirius were working towards competing at the Advanced
level when an injury ended her career as an event horse.

Sirius is now an incredible broodmare and a wonderful mother. We hope she produces many top horses for Natalie and Liz! Her first foal was born on April 18th, 2004 and is named Dark Star. Dark Star (aka "Jerry") is by Mark Todd's Aberjack - see more information on Jerry later on this page!

Sirius had her second foal, sired by Salute the Truth, another Advanced
event horse. The beautiful filly, named Lady Stardust (aka "Zoe"), was born in June of 2005. In May of 2007, Sirius' third foal, also by Salute the Truth, was born - a lovely, long legged chestnut filly.

Ready To Rock (Norman) is a 1995 16 hand bay TB gelding owned by Virginia Benz Shemonic and Natalie Hollis. Virginia bred this talented youngster.

He started eventing in 2000 at the Novice level and was first at Fair Hill International Horse Trials, 4th at Pleasant Hollow HT, 3rd at FHEE, and 4th at Banbury Cross HT. Norman then had a successful move up to the Training level by placing 2nd at CDCTA HT in October 2000 and winning the Marlborough HT in April of 2001, as well as winning FHI HT in June 2001. Norman then moved up to Prelim and was 5th at Elysian Hills HT, 3rd at Fair Hill HT, and 4th at Blue Ridge HT.

Natalie and Norman completed the Virginia CCI* in 2003 and had moved up to the Intermediate level in 2004 when a tendon injury interrupted his competitive schedule. Norman is now at home on Virginia's farm in Illinois where he was a very important job of taking care of the young stock and showing them the ropes before they come out east to be started undersaddle!

Liz and Blue Yonder

Blue Yonder (Yonder) is a 1990 16 hand dappled gray TB mare owned and competed by Liz at the Preliminary level. Liz purchased this talented horse from Phyllis Dawson in 2001 and has had many placings in Area II with her!

This pair was 2nd at Redland Hunt HT, 2nd at Plantation Fields HT, 2nd at Elysian Hills HT, 3rd at FHI HT, and 5th at Seneca Valley HT. Yonder is now semi-retired and is teaching lower level riders how to event and ride!

Liz and Manhattan at the Intermediate level.

Toast of Manhattan (Manhattan) is a 1997 17 hand bay Belgian/TB cross gelding. Manhattan was originally brought to the farm for training and resale. Natalie competed him at the Novice level in 2001 and placed 2nd at Elysian Hills HT, 2nd at Full Moon HT, and 2nd at Jenny Camp HT. Liz started to hunt Manhattan at the same time, fell in love with him and
bought him as a hunt horse for herself.

In 2002, Manhattan became an occasional eventer at the Novice and Training level
and both Natalie and Liz started to see the potential in this horse at a higher level! Liz competed Manhattan the rest of 2002 at Training level and received many ribbons including 2nd place at Marlborough HT.

In 2003, Manhattan and Liz moved up to Prelim, running several hard courses with
ease and ribbons - they finished off the 2004 season with a 2nd place at CDCTA over
a challenging course! In 2005, Liz and Manhattan put in an excellent performance at the CCI* in Lexington, VA. They then moved up to Intermediate, where they are doing very well.

Shakedown Street (Shakedown) is a 2001, 17.2 hand, bay TB gelding.
Purchased from Phyllis Dawson by Liz (thanks Liz!!!) as a new horse for Natalie
to train and compete (hopefully with a future in the upper levels)!

Shakedown shows incredible movement and trainability! He is a grandson of Aye's Turn - who produced such top eventing horses as Draco, Expedience, and Flashy Turn - as well as many others This is a horse with a bright future ahead and we are very excited about him!

Shakedown is currently competing at the Novice level and will be ready for Training level soon!

Forrest is a 2003, 16 hand (and growing!) bay Cleveland Bay/TB cross. This is a new horse for Liz and we have high hopes for his future!! Forrest is an outstanding mover with natural engagement, suspension, and extensions to his gaits!
He is currently being started under saddle and is definitely one to watch for the future!

Juliet is a 1999, 16h bay TB mare owned by WEF and competed by Kerri Long. A very talented horse! Kerri and Juliet have had much success( and many ribbons) at the preliminary level. They moved up to intermediate in April 2007 finishing in 5th place. WEF has owned juliet since she was a 3 yr old off the track and Kerri has brought her along every step on the way! This pair has an exciting future ahead of them!

Mycroft is an eleven year old, 18 hand, dark bay, TB/Shire cross. Mycroft originally came to WEF on consignment to be sold - and (like with Manhattan) Liz fell in love with him and bought him for herself! Mycroft will be spending his time doing a lot of foxhunting and hacking - which he loves!

Mycroft

Dark Star is 2004 dark bay ISH/TB cross gelding. Aka Jerry, he is Sirius' first foal and is by Aberjack and out of Sirius who is by Im a Star and out of Rambling Girl (King of Diamonds line). He is currently starting undersaddle and shows all the qualities (and the bloodlines) to be an exceptional event horse! Natalie can't wait to be able to compete him!

IN LOVING MEMORY
OF DEVIL'S PASS

"Damien" was a 1994 16.3 hand bay TB gelding purchased off the track in 1999 by Waters Edge Farm.  Damien competed successfully at the Novice and Training levels with Liz and Waters Edge Farm's working students Kerri Long and Christy Marion.  His accomplishments for the 2001 Spring season included:  first place at Novice with Christy at Fair Hill; 2nd place at Novice with Kerri at Elysian Hills; 4th place at Novice with Kerri at Waredaca; and 6th place at Training with Christy at Menfelt. Unfortunately, Damien had to be euthanized in the summer of 2001 after a bad colic.  He will be greatly missed by the staff, working students and horses of Waters Edge Farm.

Natalie and Liz both compete several
other horses that are offered for sale.
WEF always has a select group of quality
event horses and prospects. For more
